Position Summary

Drive The Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities. Picks up and delivers miscellaneous items including supplies and food donations, as needed; Performs safety checks before leaving on the route; Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and laws.

Essential Functions

Donations pickups weekly Be able to work well with volunteers and staff. Drive as needed for social service programs, activities, and functions. Take any classes or training necessary Participate in Family Services Programs Maintain food pantry clean. Assist in Food Bank deliveries or pickups Be able to load and unload donations Sorting and distributing donations for program departments Input all donation receipts to Meal Connect daily. Clean facility Vehicle upkeep included maintaining the vehicle's paperwork, filling up gas, and reporting repairs as needed. Report any Accidents and incidents report. Be functional and follow a time schedule. Assist the director and office manager with additional projects.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.  Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files and file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.  Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications     

California Class C License (class B preference) Bilingual English and Spanish (Preferred) Good driving record Background check High school Diploma or G.E.D Understand and practice confidentiality. Treat others with respect and compassion.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Able to take direction and work with minimum supervision. Complete tasks in a timely manner Good interpersonal and communication skills Complete required Salvation Army training (decision driving, Child Safety Training (PTM ), etc. Must possess flexibility, leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Annual decision-driving training.
