Job Characteristics: Responsible to provide technical and procedural direction on the design, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s software development. Requires both technical level experience and ability to interface with all levels of users. Contributes to the development of functional strategy; leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives. Operates with no supervision in a complex environment. Often coaches and advises other engineers and is responsible for external contractors and consultants. Responsible for defining the process by which software is designed and developed.
Education/Work Experience: Typically requires a degree and significant experience; or no degree and significant combined education and equivalent work experience (typically 1 year experience = 1 year education). Technology or business related function experience.
Independence Level/Reports to: Recognized both within and outside the organization as thought leader in area of expertise. Responsibilities typically include: Recommending operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results. Influencing business decisions made by leadership. Problems are complex and multi-dimensional. Requires communication with executive leadership on matters of strategic importance.
