SENIOR CENTER LEADER

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to provide vital support to the Senior Center Supervisor in the daily administration of programming and efficient management of senior centers.

Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assists in the management of senior centers and the facility operations; oversees building mechanics and maintenance; coordinates the completion of work orders; ensures compliance with risk management regulations; manages facility usage for adult day care, kitchen, fitness, and life enrichment programming; maintains master calendar; schedules facility rentals; coordinates set up for scheduled programs and events; and maintains related documentations.

Coordinates senior centers events at the center; initiates contacts and site visits, execution of agreement signing, final payments, room and equipment checks, manages janitorial duties; discusses public and private rentals, meetings, and events; and provides information on center and gives site tours to interested parties.

Assists in developing and implements center budget; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget; maintains inventories of supplies and forms.

Receives and responds to emails, phone calls, letters, and in-person inquiries in order to provide information on Center activities and programs.

Attends meetings with center members and staff in response to various requests and issues; responds to emergencies; assists County employees with maintenance and departmental issues; and designs marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, signs, and handouts in order to promote events.

Develops and conducts community outreach efforts regarding center programs and activities; plans, develops, and coordinates partnerships with professional organizations, private service providers, businesses, and regional commissions; and serves as a community advocate through involvement with allied organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Business or Public Administration or a related field required; two years of experience working with seniors, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must obtain and possess a state of Georgia driver’s license.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to work with and apply principles of persuasion and/or influence over others to coordinate programs or activities of a project, and resolve typical problems associated with the responsibilities of the job.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to resolve problems.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

ADA Compliance:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse 
environmental conditions.
