**1st Shift Machinist Assembler** **Job Description** Assemble high-speed turbo motors, generators, and turbo machinery equipment, including performing sub-assembly and full system level testing, in accordance with applicable drawings, schematics, and specifications for the Aerospace Defense Industry. **Responsibilities** + Assemble magnet blocks used for rotor shafts. + Assemble magnets onto rotor shafts. + Magnetize rotors and magnets. + Assemble rotor magnetic bearing components on rotor shafts. + Assemble rotor metal sleeves onto rotor hubs. + Assemble rotor composite sleeves onto rotor hubs. + Perform in-process inspection of assembled rotors. + Maintain materials used for rotor assemblies (e.g., adhesives). + Maintain tooling utilized for rotor assemblies. **Essential Skills** + Experience with blueprint reading and mechanical assembly. + Proficiency in using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and drill presses. + Ability to assemble high-speed turbo motors, generators, and turbo machinery equipment. + Knowledge of hand tools, bandsaws, scales, tolerances, and magnetics. + Experience in rotor assembly and setup, and programming CNC machines. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + 2+ years of experience, ideally 4 years, in assembling high-speed rotating equipment. + Experience operating automatic equipment such as lathes, mills, winding machines, with setup and operation experience. + Prior manufacturing/production experience with shop equipment such as calipers, micrometers, weighing scales, hydraulic presses, basic hand tools, conventional lathes, conventional mills, drill presses, band saws, and sanders. + Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel & Word). **Why Work Here?** Enjoy comprehensive medical coverage, dental and vision insurance, and a 401K with a 3% match. The mechanical assembly department consists of 20 people. The work environment involves exposure to glue smells and requires wearing steel-toed safety shoes. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
