SummaryThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and material, and equipment access. Reporting to the “senior-level” Maintenance Planner or the Maintenance Manager and maintaining liaison between Production and Maintenance, this position is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordination of all planned maintenance work performed on the plant site. This position is also responsible for ensuring records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting are compliant. They are also responsible for managing the day to day work of the parts room and maintenance associates. Schedule varies due to production needs but is generally 6:30a- 3:30p.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities The principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supported departments. In this capacity, this position ensures that all internal customers of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service; takes a continuing interest in customer (internal) needs; able to help Production balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance. Responsible for long-range as well as short-range planning. Long-range planning involves the regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources. These two basic variables must be kept in balance if a proactive maintenance environment is to be established and sustained. Responsible for leading the group of parts room and maintenance associates in order to ensure all scheduled work is completed as assigned and to follow up with associates about incomplete work and also audit the work completed. Planning and scheduling for shutdowns (major and minor); develops model shutdown plans by standard segments. Develops Planner reference systems including a file of Planned Job Packages for recurring jobs, plus labor and material libraries for each equipment center. Keeps the “senior-level” Maintenance Planner and/or Maintenance Manager properly informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority. Makes recommendations for system improvement. Promotes the conservation of energy. Maintains essential records and files from which this position prepares and distributes accurate and meaningful management reports. Interprets and provides historical equipment cost information. Participates in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis. Assists the Maintenance Manager and Production Manager in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement. Performs other maintenance related tasks and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Superintendent or Production Manager.Minimum Education
High School diploma or GED plus 3 years’ relevant work experience in; proven oral and written communication skills
Experience RequirementsCandidate must have 3 years of relevant work experience minimum; proven oral and written communication skills. Must understand maintenance systems and processes, preventative and predictive maintenance, manufacturing technologies and standard software applications
Experience PreferredMaximo software knowledge preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical RequirementsWork environment includes, but is not limited to, a normal office environment and construction site as well as climate extremes found in a poultry processing operation and a wastewater treatment facility. This position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. This position requires an associate to be able to be exposed to all chemical found in a poultry processing operation and a wastewater treatment facility. This associate must wear and/or use protective safety equipment required for the job and for various locations. This associate must be able to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings.
