**1st Shift - Mechanical Assembler**
**Job Description**
Assemble high speed turbo motor, generator, and turbo machinery equipment including performing sub-assembly and full system level testing, in accordance with applicable drawings, schematics, and specifications for the Aerospace Defense Industry.
**Responsibilities**
+ Mechanical assembly and test of high precision motor, generator, and turbomachinery components and subassemblies.
+ Bonding of magnets onto assemblies.
+ Utilize metrology tools including height gauges, calipers, and micrometers and calculate stack-up tolerancing of subassemblies.
+ Perform electrical checks including resistance, inductance, and hi-pot using appropriate meters.
+ Perform functional tests of motors, capturing pertinent information, and recording information in build worksheet (Excel).
+ Interface with engineering or manufacturing teams regarding design and build issues.
+ Provide feedback on design and processing to support continuous improvement.
**Essential Skills**
+ 2+ years experience, ideally 4 years, with assembling high speed rotating equipment.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to produce assemblies following routers, work instructions, and blueprints.
+ Ability to conduct in-process inspection of assemblies.
+ Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word.
+ Ability to conduct basic verification/troubleshooting of own work.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Understanding of basic theory behind motor/generator, power electronics, and magnetic bearing component assembly and operation is a plus.

**Work Environment**
Work in a medium manufacturing environment of 120 employees, specifically in the Mechanical Assembly department with 20 team members. Expect exposure to glue smells and the requirement to wear steel-toed safety shoes.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
