Dow has immediate openings in Midland, Michigan or Lake Jackson, Texas for multiple roles in Information Research (IR), Core Research & Development (R&D) including Research Application/Software Developers, a Data/Machine Learning (ML) Engineer, a High Performance Computing (HPC) Operations Analyst, and a Cybersecurity Analyst. IR provides leading edge information technology (I/T) capability and information resources to meet strategic R&D initiatives. IR team members bring a combination of I/T, R&D experience, and physical science knowledge to develop capabilities and analysis that help deliver R&D growth and innovation commitments. IR overall is focused on making Dow R&D the best at using information technology and informatics for a competitive advantage.

Research Application/Software Developer

The team members in this role will collaborate with scientists, other developers, and external vendors on the design, development, and deployment of digital solutions for Dow R&D. From custom applications to large-scale commercial off the shelf (COTS) systems, these digital solutions are critical to advancing research and innovation at Dow.

This is a technical role with strong focus on application development using Microsoft C#/.NET platform and Typescript, leveraging the Agile/Scrum development methodology.

Data/Machine Learning (ML) Engineer

The team member in this role will be responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, implementing machine learning models, and deploying web-based data science applications.  This role is essential in supporting the full data science workflow—from data acquisition and pre-processing to machine learning and software deployment.

The Data & ML Engineer will collaborate with data scientists, software developers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data and model delivery for digital initiatives.

High Performance Computing (HPC) Operations Analyst

The team member in this role will be tasked with the upkeep and administration of both the infrastructure and the extensive array of software that R&D scientists at Dow utilize within the cutting-edge High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. This computational hub, equipped with over 60 specialized scientific computational applications, plays a critical role in accelerating the pace of scientific breakthroughs via enhanced modeling and simulation processes.

Key responsibilities of this role will include the support and operation of Linux-based servers and web-based HPC applications; the integration, support, and optimization of both open source and commercial software; and the maintenance of commercial modeling and simulation environments.

Cybersecurity Analyst

The team member in this role will work with a team of experienced professionals to protect Dow’s digital infrastructure from various cyber threats. Specifically, this role will apply cybersecurity principles and knowledge of IT infrastructure to monitor Dow’s R&D systems, identify vulnerabilities and assist in remediation activities, and work on other valuable project initiatives.

The Cybersecurity Analyst role will require the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills as interacting with employees on threats and/or the impact of incidents will be a key responsibility.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics or a related STEM or technical fieldExperience via internships and/or academic projects pertaining to the responsibilities described in the chosen preferred roleProficiency in a modern programming and/or scripting language such as C++, C#, Python, Typescript, Bash, etc. Familiarity with data structure/design and working with databasesBasic understanding of cybersecurity, approaches digital solutions with a security mindsetHighly motivated team player and self-starter who thrives in a cross-functional environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsA minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Skills

Research Application/Software Developer

Familiarity with .NET development, Entity Framework, and RESTful APIsExperience building software in a collaborative environment (e.g. using version control, working with a product backlog, managing CI/CD pipelines via YAML)Experience working with containers and/or with cloud applications, specifically those built on AWS or AzureServer configuration experience (e.g. IIS, Tomcat) or experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration

Data/Machine Learning (ML) Engineer
