Job Summary:
Raytheon provides end-to-end space solutions – from ground control systems to on-orbit sensors – to keep our customers informed and ahead of the threat. Each day, ground stations receive vast amounts of data from satellites in orbit. Using complex algorithms, they process all of the bits and bytes received and turn them into useable information for the end users who consume this data. As the volume of data grows, ground stations need to evolve and adapt. As a Ground System Software Engineer, you have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. Our small, agile teams adapt to evolving customer and warfighter needs. We are seeking software engineering professionals to work onsite in our Aurora, CO location designing, developing, and maintaining next-generation satellite mission software. In this role you will work onsite with a team of skilled Software Engineers developing Satellite Ground Stations Software.
This Java Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for our Satellite Ground Systems. This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Design, implement, and test Java, and Python based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.Work with the latest software test and automation tools.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.Work with previously written code and make modifications as necessary.Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.Be a team player incorporating a team-based success philosophy.Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of their immediate supervisor.Follow established software processes and procedures, development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts.Stay updated with the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.Qualifications you must have:
Requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) .This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)Experience in object-oriented software design and development using a high order language such as Java in a Linux environment along with unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit)Experience troubleshooting or debugging softwareExperience with PythonThe ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceQualifications We Prefer :
Experience with Java AND C++Experience with unit and automated functional test conceptsPrevious work with satellite ground system software or satellite GPS softwareExperience developing software in an Agile or DevOps environments.What We Offer

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
