Braun Intertec Corporation, a leader in engineering and environment consulting, is seeking engineering students for a 3 month Intern within our geotechnical engineering department. During this time the student will work in and report to the engineering department. The student will perform engineering-related field and office duties. This position is located in Fargo, ND!
Opportunities:
Perform/observe engineering field tests and complete engineering related fieldwork services, including but not limited to percolation testing, PDA testing/load testing, staking/reconning for subsurface exploration locations, pre/post-condition construction surveys and field electrical resistivity testing. Following testing analysis of the test results, engineering calculations and report preparation may be performed.Observe construction of various components including rammed aggregate piers, driven pile observations, helical anchor, sheet piles, etc for conformance with project documentsPerforms visual and manual classification of soil samples to aid in preparation of soil boring logs in office and on-site field logging with our drill rigs during our subsurface explorationsPerforms geotechnical analysis and calculations as requested under the guidance of a professional engineerAssist in developing geotechnical scopes of work and proposal preparationAssist with the preparation of geotechnical engineering reportsMentoring from a licensed engineer and practical engineering experience to develop your professional skillsPerforms construction materials testing as requested by the engineering department to support field service operations or engineering evaluations. The testing could include soil density or concrete testing, excavation observations, proofroll observations, and rebar inspectionsAssist with the installation and monitoring of in-situ geotechnical instrumentation (vibrating wire piezometers, inclinometer readings, groundwater monitoring transducers, etc.)Learn procedures and gain exposure to ASTM, AASHTO, ICC and DOT standardsAdd to your professional résumé with experience and references from a well-respected engineering consulting firmCompetitive pay and the opportunity to work overtimeGain experience in writing proposal and reportsHourly wage for this position is $23/hr.Required Skills:
Have a valid driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to lift 50 pounds on a regular basisWilling to travel up to 50% and overnightMust be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessaryRequired Experience:
