Hoosier Racing Tire is the largest race tire manufacturer in the world. Hoosier has grown to produce over 1000 different types of race tires. The company has its own 300-mph test wheel; a technology center; state-of-the-art, fully-integrated production facilities recently adding a high-tech mixing plant, with enough capacity to produce not only for Hoosier Racing Tire, but to have the ability to produce rubber for additional entities as well as a model sales and distribution network.

**The Position**
Embark on an exciting journey as an Industrial Engineering Intern at our Hoosier Racing Tire manufacturing facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply industrial engineering principles to optimize our production processes. You will conduct time and motion studies, collaborate on process improvement initiatives, analyze losses to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and contribute to special projects. Join us and play a vital role in supporting lean manufacturing activities while providing valuable data to Continental Business Teams.
As an Industrial Engineering Intern, you'll be at the forefront of our efforts to drive efficiency and productivity in our manufacturing operations. Here's a closer look at your responsibilities:
1. **Time and Motion Studies:**
2. Conduct thorough time and motion studies to evaluate the efficiency of production tasks and determine appropriate cycle time standards.
3. Utilize data analysis techniques to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance workflow optimization.
4. **Process Improvement Studies:**
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
6. Assist in implementing process improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining operations, reducing waste, and enhancing overall productivity.
7. **OEE Optimization:**
8. Study losses within production areas to identify factors impacting Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
9. Work towards minimizing downtime, reducing changeover times, and maximizing equipment efficiency to improve OEE metrics.
10. **Special Projects:**
11. Take on special projects assigned by your manager, which may involve conducting research, analyzing data, and implementing solutions to address specific challenges or opportunities.
12. These projects offer a unique opportunity to showcase your skills and make a meaningful impact on our manufacturing processes.
13. **Problem-Solving Techniques:**
14. Apply problem-solving techniques, such as root cause analysis (A3), to investigate and address issues affecting production efficiency or quality.
15. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement effective solutions that address root causes and prevent recurrence of problems.
16. **Support for Lean Manufacturing:**
17. Assist in lean manufacturing activities aimed at eliminating waste, improving flow, and enhancing overall efficiency.
18. Contribute ideas and insights to support the continuous improvement of lean practices throughout the organization.
19. **Data Provision for Continental Business Teams:**
20. Provide accurate and timely data to Continental Business Teams to support decision-making and strategic planning.
21. Collaborate with other departments to gather relevant information and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Currently enrolled in a US accredited college degree program in sophomore or higher standing as of Fall 2024
+ General Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering Major
+ Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of a 2.8
+ Proficient Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
+ Strong understanding of statistical models (i.e., regression analysis)
