Summary:

Accurate and precise quantification of active drug and metabolites is required for understanding pharmacokinetics and essential to developing therapeutic pharmaceuticals.  We are seeking a summer intern who will participate in developing novel methods for quantifying antisense and siRNA oligonucleotides and metabolites.  The intern will learn the principles and practice of liquid chromatography, ligand-binding assays, and mass spectrometry.  Through this project, the intern will also gain a basic understanding of oligonucleotide chemistry, pharmacokinetics, and mechanisms of RNA-targeted therapeutics. Product and results from this project will potentially provide a new analytical tool to support drug development programs through better understanding the metabolism and deposition of therapeutic oligonucleotides.

Requirements: 

MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship. MUST be able to begin internship between 6/9 and 6/16/2025. MUST be able and willing to remain in the program through at least 8/15/2025. MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour workweek and work onsite in Carlsbad, CA. Housing and travel assistance not provided for—local applicants with suitable transportation are preferred.
