Under general supervision assists in providing technical support and advice in metallurgical/chemical testing and analysis at assigned site. Assisting in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocolsAssisting in metallurgical studies and conducts analyses Preparing standard reports on metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issuesAssisting in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentDeveloping and maintaining an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignmentParticipating with operating and maintenance departments in problem solving efforts to improve safety, environment performance, productivity, and cost profilePerform other duties as requiredQualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering discipline or related Engineering field; ORRecent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related Engineering fieldProficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointPossesses strong data analysis and problem solving skillsHighly accurate and detail orientedPossesses strong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressureDemonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.Must be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity
Preferred
Full time student at the University of Arizona, preferably majoring in Chemical EngineeringHas taken or is currently taking chemistry classes and chemistry lab classesHas worked as part of a team to complete a project Experience with using keywords to identify technical papers and patents related to given subjectsProficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)Able to summarize experimental findings into memos or reports
