As a member of our team, you 'll contribute to experimental and theoretical research in quantum information science that spans multiple physical quantum computing platforms, quantum sensing, and more. As a Quantum Post-Doctoral Scientist at APL you will... Propose and lead independent research projects in solid state quantum device design multi-qubit control, quantum algorithm development, quantum error correction, scalable characterization techniques, and/or quantum sensing. Work collaboratively with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions. Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that involve quantum device characterization, modelling physically motivated quantum systems, and developing relevant characterization, control, and error correction strategies. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications if you... Have a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Have research, accomplishments, and publications in the field of quantum information science. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Are willing to occasionally travel to sponsor sites, conferences and workshops. Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Are able to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Polygraph security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and need to meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... Have significant hands-on experience with solid-state qubit design, quantum dot tuning, RF control, and/or dilution refrigerator operation. Have experience with developing and/or assessing quantum error correction strategies. Knowledge and experience with implementing quantum noise characterization and control techniques. Have high-performance-computing experience. Have a record of significant contributions on collaborative projects pursuing highly sophisticated objectives. Have experience working closely with both experimentalists and theorists. Have an active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph security clearance. Why Work at APL? The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
