PPG Primer Internships

Are you a 2026 or 2027 student looking for a summer 2025 Internship?

PPG Primers Internship Program is crafted with the primary goal of developing PPG’s future leaders through Internships and Emerging Talent Programs. 

Primers will choose an internship track giving them the opportunity to assume responsibilities and gain real-world work experience. All 2025 Internships will be on-site in one of PPG offices, plants, manufacturing sites, or research centers.  Within each of our strategic business units, Interns will lead meaningful projects, expand their academic knowledge, and foster collaboration within teams. Post Internship offer acceptance, Interns are matched with openings based on student interest in location, business group, and project details.

PPG offers a 2-year internship program, including students who are in their junior year (2027) and senior year (2026), along with Masters level candidates. Each summer provides the opportunity for students to join a new team and refine skills in their area of focus. Projects can include process improvement, creation of new PPG products, updating current systems, researching best practices, and more. In addition to a manager, each Intern is provided with a mentor for the summer.

The program kicks off with a Spring 2025 Primer Insight Day, an Intern focused program giving selected students the opportunity to build professional skills and engage with top leaders in PPG’s businesses and learn about our organization before the formal Internship Program begins. Our 2025 Primer Insight Day will be hosted virtually in the spring of 2025. This afternoon program is designed to help connect students with each other, prepare them for the formal internship program, and set them up for a successful internship. 

During our 12 week program, Interns across different business units will participate in meaningful work within their field of study. The program curriculum includes:

Robust onboarding and first day/week training curriculum designed specifically for Interns

Executive Leader Speaker series

Learning and Development workshops focused on professional etiquette, business acumen skills, enhancing leadership, and building networks within the organization

Overviews of PPG’s Strategic Business Units

In person and virtual networking events

National Intern Day Celebration

Volunteer Opportunities

Cross functional projects

Impact Work Projects

End of Internship Presentations

Tracks include rotations focused in:

Analytics, Business Administration, Business Analysis

Engineering (Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, Energy, Mechanical, Materials Science, and more)

Chemistry, Research and Development, Processing and Testing

Digital

Environmental Health and Safety

Finance

Human Resources

IT

Supply Chain

Research and Development

Selection Criteria for PPG Primers – Apply if you meet the requirements!

Students must be in their junior or senior year of school and graduate between December 2025 and April 2027.

In addition, students must:

Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student 

Ability to relocate within the US for each rotation and work a minimum of 11 weeks in each rotation.

Be a citizen of the U.S. or have authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Demonstrate Leadership Potential, Strong Communication Skills, and Interest in a career with PPG

Preferred:

Maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher
