2025 Summer GIS Technician Intern

The GIS Records Group is responsible for creating and updating a state-of-the-art GIS database that captures the location and condition of transmission, distribution, substation and land-base assets relevant to Eversource’s electric network. This internship offers an opportunity to gain work experience and become familiar with the working environment at Eversource and the use of GIS within utilities in general

The intern(s) will be responsible for assisting with data maintenance in the GDBM and related projects. The scope of the projects will be based on the current needs of the records group. Data will be mostly digital, but it may be necessary to reference older paper records in order to reconcile data conflicts.

The intern(s) will work together with the team members, but you should also be comfortable working independently with little supervision. There will be an opportunity to accompany team members on field visits to identify electrical equipment and learn field safety.

Responsibilities

Assist with data projects based on current need of the GIS GroupEdit GIS data based on work orders, as-builts and other recordsConsult multiple data sources to reconcile data errorsAccompany team members on field checksPractice good communication and team work

The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field.
