What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 28, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.


Internship responsibilities may include:

Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. Maintain systems that support data operations for Data Science, and customers. Gather and process raw data at scale (including writing scripts, web scraping, calling APIs, write SQL queries, etc.). Use ETL processes in order to maintain, improve, clean, and manipulate data. Deliver solutions by developing, testing, and implementing code and scripts. Produce reports and uphold data delivery schedules. Manage life cycle of multiple data sources. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University graduating with a bachelor’s degree between December 2025 - May 2026Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current programAbility to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the programAuthorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship 


Preferred qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services Basic coding/scripting experience using Python, R, shell scripts Basic experience with SQL, Tableau, and ETL techniques Basic background in Linux/CentOS installation and administration Basic knowledge in data storage that demonstrates knowledge of when to use a file system, relational database, or NoSQL variant Basic knowledge Spark, and Hadoop/Hive Effective attention to detail with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks Ability to learn new techniques, methods, and concepts regarding data Ability to learning programming languagesAbility to work in a team environmentOral and written skillsOrganizational skillsProblem solving abilitiesProficient in Software including Adobe, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
