Department Summary
The Molecular Lab Research and Early Development invents future molecular diagnostics by designing prototype molecular diagnostic systems and assays for many disease areas. You will have the opportunity to contribute towards the design and optimization of prototype molecular diagnostics assays for use by our Development Networks or Pharma Partners.
This internship position is located in Pleasanton, on-site.
The Opportunity
Works under general supervision to conduct and monitor laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures, and technical and theoretical understanding.Analyzes experimental data using various data analysis software and/or applying quantitative methods.Assumes responsibility for at least one project, the results of which will be presented to the larger Roche community towards the end of the internshipProgram Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.Program start dates are in May/June (Summer) A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related
Required Skills:
Ability to design or eager to learn the execution of relevant laboratory workflows and determine next steps within the context of overall project goals and direction.Experience in or eager to learn sample preparation, NGS, DNA/RNA extraction, pre-analytics, qPCR, digital PCR, and other standard molecular biology techniques.Competent in or eager to learn the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analysesPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
