2025 Summer Intern- Environmental Health Safety

Position Summary

The primary purpose of the EHS summer intern is to learn about key components of environmental compliance, safety measures, and occupational health requirements, and engage in EHS-related projects.

Role and Responsibilities

Work on environmental, safety, and occupational health components within the Integrated Management System

Assist with regulatory evaluation and reporting requirements

Monitor for EHS key performance indicators 

Assist with materials management for the Hazard Communication Program

Develop training materials and communication materials

Participate in pollution prevention initiatives and events

Special Projects:

Develop PIT traffic study for pedestrian monitoring 

Development of online training tracker

Skills and Qualifications

Education:  Pursuing a four-year degree in either Environmental Science, Studies, Health, Engineering, or Sustainability, OR a related science degree (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Education).

Experience:   Prior work and/or internship experience in a science field is ideal, but not required

Knowledge:  Microsoft office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and Access); Canva is a plus

Physical requirement: Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time (up to 1 hour), use standard office equipment, work outdoors, and wear Personal Protective Equipment (hard toe safety shoes, safety glasses/goggles, and hearing protection)

Physical requirement:  All employees for all positions must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 lbs.
