2025 Summer Intern - Ophthalmology Drug Development
Department Summary
Roche’s Product Development organization is structured by therapeutic area and is responsible for designing and executing late-stage (Phase II–III) clinical development strategies to deliver medically differentiated therapies that bring meaningful improvements to patients' lives.
As a Summer Intern in Product Development Ophthalmology, you will work closely with Medical Directors and Clinical Scientists to support clinical development plans for an assigned disease area program. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ophthalmology drug development, contribute to cutting-edge research, and develop a deeper understanding of the clinical trial process.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Gain valuable insights into ophthalmology drug development and contribute to our Ophthalmology Therapy Area objectives.
The opportunity to participate in team discussions, shadow colleagues to understand their roles and daily tasks, and network with professionals across various functional and therapeutic areas within the organization.
In addition to hands-on learning, the intern will be assigned a dedicated project to advance in collaboration with the team. At the end of the internship, they will present their findings through a slide presentation or poster session.
Will focus on exploring the mechanism of action and downstream effects of systemic IL-6/IL-6R pathway inhibition across organ systems.
Actively contribute to the development of scientific narratives, key messages, presentations, and a potential manuscript, working closely with the team to translate complex scientific concepts into impactful communications.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must have attained Pharmacy Degree / PharmD.
Required Majors: Pharmacy / Pharm-D.
Required Skills
Real-world data research analysis, patient outcome evaluation, scientific literature review, scientific text authoring.
Proven experience in health outcomes research
Creation of presentations and/or Posters Skills.
Strong skills in medical literature review, data analysis and interpretation.
Experience with scientific slide creation, and authorship of scientific texts are essential.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $43.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
