2025 Summer Intern - Cell and Tissue Genomics
Department Summary
The Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics (CTG) is seeking a highly talented, creative, and motivated summer intern to analyze cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics and histopathology data. The candidate will collaborate closely with members of the department to develop new algorithms for and extract biological insights from single cell and spatial transcriptomics datasets.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, onsite
The Opportunity
Analyze next-generation sequencing data, involving novel and state-of-the-art technologies such as multi-modal single-cell genomics and high-content perturbation screens.
Integrate human genetics, single-cell genomics, and functional genomics data to understand the biology underlying autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Human Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Required Skills:
Deep understanding of computational techniques for analyzing high-throughput single-cell RNA/ATAC-seq data and perturbation data.
Fluent in R and/or Python.
Comfortable with HPC environments, tools for data analysis, statistics, and version control tools. Experience with applying machine learning to high throughput datasets is a plus.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Expertise in human genetics and/or immunology is a plus.
Spatial transcriptomics data analysis.
Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.
The expected salary for this position based on the primary location of California is $50 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
