The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. About the Role:
The selected student will be working in the Commercial Team within the Global Supply Management (GSM) US division. The Commercial team consists of Strategic and Operational Buyers who are responsible for sourcing, supplier relationship management and cost competitiveness. The position will allow the student to learn, at high level, various aspects of sourcing process and how the relationship with the suppliers are managed to benefit the organizational goals. This position will allow the student to work directly with buyers as well as suppliers, giving an opportunity to get exposure of real-life projects.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Work with the buyers closely and help assist them in their follow ups with the suppliers Maintain a list of suppliers who are on New Business Hold (NBH) and do the follow up with suppliers to get the required missing documentation Help buyers in doing the follow up on Supplier Change Requests (SCR) Help prepare training materials with the help of supervisors/buyers Assist supervisor in any administrative work Support buyers in maintaining supplier data base Follow up with suppliers as required by buyers Create new and/or enhance existing computer applications, programs, spreadsheets, databases, etc. to compile information and generate reports of department metrics
Requirements:
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Supply Chain or a Business related major Candidate must be proficient in MS Office Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
