ATCO is hiring students who have completed one year in the Electrical and Wireless System (Communications) Technologist programs to join our Technical Internship Program in positions throughout service areas in Alberta.

The Technical Internship Program, runs from May 5 to August 29 and is a great way to kick off an engaging career with us.

Relocation assistance may be provided to successful candidates.

Responsibilities of Electrical Technologist:

Assisting the Electrical Technologist Team Leader or Electrical Technologist Qualified with switching in substations, performing maintenance activities on substation equipment, working in isolated generation facilities in troubleshooting, completing repairs, construction, installation and commissioning of equipment. Assist with commission testing, troubleshooting and repairs on distribution equipment.  Assist in responding to trouble calls related to equipment failures and alarms within transmission facilities.

Responsibilities of Wireless System (Communications) Technologist:

Under directive supervision of a more senior technologist or other professional; employees assist in designing, installing, commissioning, inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting of communications equipment including RF Carriers, IP Network mobile radios, fibre optics, cable and other systems.  Assist with maintenance of radio site support systems, this includes buildings, HVAC, tower structure, lighting and site grounds.

Qualifications:

Enrollment in an Electrical or Wireless System (Communications) Technologist program in a recognized Canadian educational institution. Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and concisely, using appropriate technical vocabulary. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
