Job Description

The Cell Process Development team operates as the bridge between early discovery and manufacturing by developing large-scale processes for our cell therapy projects. We work closely with our Drug Discovery Units, early CMC, and manufacturing colleagues to produce manufacturing-ready cell therapy processes.

Job Description:

The progression of cell therapy research projects into large-scale procedures is an important step in developing a successful and profitable product. It is essential for initial studies to identify and test potential pain points and de-risk procedures for the smooth transition into Manufacturing. Changes in constructs and procedures during early discovery may improve the product at small-scale, however it is necessary to investigate the changes with large-scale protocols.

Our Discovery team has made exciting changes to the cytokine armoring of a current project that has showed encouraging in vitro results. While results have been promising with the updated constructs, these studies have utilized a small-scale transduction method that may not translate to large-scale manufacturing processes. The intern will:

Investigate the large-scale transduction step for the new lead constructsDetermine the optimal conditions for large-scale transduction using a more translatable transduction methodSeveral parameters of the transduction step will be investigated using a combination of a scaled-down transduction technique and the full large-scale transduction method.

Internship Development Opportunities:

• Gain understanding of cell therapy field and role of Process Development

• Gain broad understanding of γδ T cells and project background

• Gain understanding of γδ T cell large-scale expansion processes

• Understand the study objectives including rationale and experimental planning
