Job Description:

As a hands-on technical role, the intern will carry out the small-scale drug product development activities for synthetic molecules at our internal labs.  They will design and develop age-appropriate dosage forms (e.g., soft chewable tablets/orally disintegrating tablets and mini tablets) for pediatric patients using model drug candidates.  This internship position will be laboratory-based in Cambridge, MA. 

The intern will carry out small scale product development activities using conventional and novel excipients (e.g., co-processed excipients) to develop soft chewable tablets or fast disintegrating tablets for pediatric use.  In addition, evaluate these formulation blends and tablets using various physical characterization tests (e.g., bulk/tap density, flow, hardness, friability, tensile strength etc.) and also assess their disintegration and dissolution behavior.

The intern will have the opportunity work with and present to members of the Drug Product group and other team members within R&D.

The intern will follow the cGLP principles to capture the experimental procedures and the subsequent data that was generated.

Job Requirements:

This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+  days in the Cambridge office per week.Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gatheringHighly reliable and a strong team playerFlexible with an attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsMust be Currently enrolled in a M.S. or Ph.D. program in a related scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering etc.) is required.  Any experience in Product Development in the Pharmaceutical industry would be desired.  

Internship EligibilityMust be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorshipMust be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or laterThe internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)The intern must be able to commit to one of these time framesAble to work full time 40 hours a week during internship datesTakeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

 

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
