By clicking the “Apply” button, I understand that my employment application process with Takeda will commence and that the information I provide in my application will be processed in line with Takeda’s Privacy Notice and Terms of Use . I further attest that all information I submit in my employment application is true to the best of my knowledge. **Job Description** Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and Mas Spectroscopy (MS) are critical analytical techniques in pharmaceutical research. NMR Spectroscopy provides detailed information about the molecular structure, dynamics, reaction state, and chemical environment of molecules. It is essential for confirming the structure of drug compounds, studying molecular interactions, and understanding the behavior of drugs in biological systems. Mass Spectrometry allows for precise mass measurement and identification of compounds, including the detection of impurities and degradation products. MS is indispensable for rapid determination of the structure of drug substances, metabolites and impurities, as well as low-level quantitative analysis of drug compounds, metabolites and potential genotoxic impurities. Together, they work synergistically, with NMR confirming the structure predicted from the accurate mass MS provides. These techniques are, however, extremely data rich, and information is often lost when raw data is reduced to peak lists and tables. Therefore, building a database is essential for optimal project management andfurthers the goal of organizational excellence in FAIR (finable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) data principles and DD&T initiatives, this summer intern project will ensure critical structural knowledge from NMR and MS are carefully logged and searchable, safeguard reproducibility, and streamline Regulatory and Legal inquiries. **How You Will Contribute:** + Design and develop a database to store and manage both NMR and MS spectra, along with related metadata. + Test the capabilities of two programs designed especially for curating and auto-verifying MS and NMR data (ACDlabs and MNova) along with the corresponding structure. + Collaborate with SMPD and DMPK colleagues to determine their requirements. + Test retrieval and analysis of data. **Internship Development Opportunities:** + Hands-on experience working with both high filed and low field NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometers + Gain deep understanding into cross-functional work on small molecule development between Takeda Analytical and Process Development teams + Database construction and testing + Testing analytical software for structural analysis and verification of molecular structure + Bandwidth permitting, the successful candidate can also have hands-on experience using NMR and MS as a process analytical technology. **Job Requirements:** + This position will be fully onsite in Cambridge, MA + The ideal candidate should be a 3rd/4th year undergraduate student or graduate student with a background in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, informatics/computer science or chemical related programming + Previous experience with handling and interpreting NMR and mass spectrometry datasets is desirable but hands on experience with instrumentation is not required + The successful candidate will have a track record of independent problem-solving, but additionally should feel comfortable seeking guidance when necessary + This position requires good organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability function effectively as a team member **Internship Eligibility** + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship + Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later + The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 29th) or (June 16th - August 22nd + The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames + Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates + Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program **Program Highlights:** + Hands-on experience with real projects and responsibilities + Dedicated mentorship program pairing interns with experienced professionals + Networking opportunities with industry professionals and fellow interns + Internship events focused on professional and skills development + Exposure to multiple business areas or departments within a Pharmaceutical Organization Applications will be accepted between December 18th and January 12th **Takeda Compensation and Benefits** **Summary** We understand compensation may be an important factor as you consider an internship opportunity.
