Position Description

 
As our Company continues to increase its global footprint and accessibility to customers and patients, the Global Security Group (GSG) continues to take prudent measures to protect and secure our company and our people, products, trade secrets, intellectual property, reputation, and operations on a global scale.  In doing so, GSG protects the Company from a variety of hazards with the goal of providing a competitive advantage by minimizing the impact of security risks and maximizing the opportunity for the Company to do business in a safe and effective manner.


As an intern within our Company Global Security Group Insider Risk and Trade Secrets program, you will play a vital role in helping the organization mitigate insider risk, data loss prevention, and data exfiltration threats. You will work closely with experienced professionals to develop strategies, implement security controls, and detect and respond to potential risks. This internship will provide you with valuable experience in managing insider threats and protecting critical data assets.


Responsibilities:

Assist in identifying, assessing, and monitoring insider risk threats to the organization's sensitive data and trade secrets.

 Collaborate with the team to develop and implement data loss prevention (DLP) strategies and mechanisms to safeguard critical information.

Assist in developing and reporting relevant data analytics

Support the implementation and maintenance of DLP tools and technologies to detect and prevent data exfiltration by insiders.

Conduct research and analysis to identify vulnerabilities and potential areas of risk related to insider threats and data exfiltration.

Contribute to the development and execution of incident response plans to address insider risk incidents, data loss incidents, and data exfiltration attempts.

Help educate employees on best practices for data protection and prevention of insider threats, data loss, and data exfiltration.

Assist in monitoring and responding to security events and alerts related to insider risk, data loss, and data exfiltration.

Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of security policies, procedures, and technical controls to mitigate insider risks and protect sensitive data.

 Create current-state/future state process flows related to insider risks, and data loss prevention, using Visio or similar tools.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Business, or a similar field.

Candidates must be able to commit to full-time employment for 10 - 12 weeks beginning summer 2025

Strong interest in the field of insider risk management, data loss prevention, and protection of sensitive data.

Familiarity with insider threat detection and mitigation techniques and technologies.

Ability to develop relevant data analytics reporting tools such as PowerBI. 

Knowledge of data loss prevention (DLP) tools, techniques, and best practices.

 Understanding of different data exfiltration methods and the ability to identify potential indicators of data exfiltration.

Knowledge of security principles, data access control mechanisms, and incident response procedures.

Comfortable working with large datasets.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and respond to insider risk, data loss, and data exfiltration incidents.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members and stakeholders as well as the ability to handle and protect sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity
