Job SummaryPSEG is looking for an Intern for the Gas Construction team within Gas Operations.
This job involves working as a technical intern for large-scale gas infrastructure capital upgrade projects.
The Gas Construction department is responsible for the planning and execution of large-scale capital gas infrastructure upgrade projects as part of Gas System Modernization Program, as well as other programs of work. The team is responsible for work planning, resource allocation, municipal/county/state permitting, contractor management, mobile crew and service mechanic oversight, completion of all required documentation, etc. The technical intern will provide support of the construction and project management day to day activities as well as learn various aspects the Gas Construction business.
This position will be Onsite.
Job ResponsibilitiesAssignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
The successful candidates will primarily aid the Construction Manager and Project Manager in the day-to-day field operations of the Gas Construction team.
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
Reading construction drawings. Reviewing / auditing construction documentation such as layout folders, completion records, bid and dailies etc. Analyzing construction documentation / data and preparing weekly status reports. Visits to job sites. Assist with process improvement through participation in team and project meetings. Assist with restoration processes through support of the restoration team. Coordinate resources with contractors, districts etc. Assist with the monthly forecasting process. Job Specific QualificationsRequired Education/Skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management and graduating between December 2025 and May 2028. Students graduating in May/June 2025 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2025. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed freshman level course work for consideration.
Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
Preferred:
3.0 GPA. Construction or Project Management related experience. Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering/construction drawings.
All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
