As a Machine Operator you will work with the Presort Business Unit as the first point of contact to meet the company's mailing productivity standards and requirements. You will help clients to earn the best possible discounts on First-Class® and Standard® postage.  Your career as a Machine Operator at Pitney Bowes will help you increase your technical skills in the mailing industry to rapidly move into other positions within Pitney Bowes, Inc.  

 

The Job

 

Operate Presorting machines to sort and barcode mail received from customers while maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.Follows TQM (Total Quality Management) practices and policies to assure quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, barcodes, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.Understands machine software and how and when to change sort plans, set address blocks, etc.  Maximizes read rates on the mail by making appropriate adjustments and/or notifying supervisor. Assures the machine is running properly.  Remains informed of Acceptance Times and when trucks must leave.  Assures mail is prepared to meet SLAs.Promotes a clean work area to prevent possible injuries and/or tripping hazards to self and others.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

 

Previous experience operating equipment in a mail presort environment preferred.Knowledge of postal regulations that relate to bar coded mailings.Ability to understand machine soft ware and how and when to use it.Ability to stand, walk, stoop and bend up to 100% of the time with or without accommodations. Required to occasionally lift up to 50lbs with or without accommodations. Candidates must have a basic enough understanding of English to be able to understand and follow safety and other operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of their native language.Ability to work a flexible work schedule, based on business needs; including weekends, holidays and overtime. 

 

The Team

Our Presort Services team is a national outsource provider of mail presort services for first-class and standard-class mail in the U.S. and a workshare partner of the United States Postal Service (USPS). Our Presort Services network provides mailers with end-to-end solutions from pick up at their location to delivery into the postal system. Through our network of 33 U.S. locations, and with our fully-customized proprietary technology, we process approximately 15 billion pieces of mail annually and are able to expedite delivery and optimize postage savings for our clients.
