Your role and responsibilities

Collaborates with a team of technical resources to carry out test requests for Global R&D teams in electrical and high power componentsPerform R&D and compliance testing using standard and specialized test equipment, within the planned testing time, ensuring compliance to the quality and delivery metricsExecute all technical functions relevant to the preparation and testing as specified by global test requestsPrepare and operate test equipment for carrying out specific electrical tests, starting with calibration, dielectric, temperature rise with the goal of growing to learn short circuit, overload, electrical endurance and specialized testingPerform environmental type tests such as rain spray, hose down and water mistPerform basic calculations of technical data and report them accordinglyCommunicate test data and prepare technical documentation and formal reports as neededMaintain accurate maintenance and qualification recordsManage the test queue and update on a timely basisMaintain confidentiality in handling proprietary test data, formulations and data on patentable or other confidential items under developmentMaintain laboratory equipment, supplies and working areaAdhere to ABB safety protocols and proceduresAbility to work independently and with a team with limited supervision.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering and minimum 2 years of related experience is desiredMust have basic knowledge in the operation of electrical and electromechanical equipmentMust have strong knowledge of electricity theory and be able to read electrical schematicsExperience with reading and understanding UL, CSA, and IEC testing standards is also desiredWorking knowledge of electrical testing equipmentMust be PC proficient including MS Office - Outlook, Excel, Word as a minimumMust have driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to satellite labShow an eagerness to learn advanced electrical principles and electromechanical expertiseCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
