2nd Shift - Sr. Laboratory Assistant - Sprinklers/Ducts
We are looking for a 2nd Shift Sr. Laboratory Assistant to join our Sprinklers/Ducts team at our modern facility in Northbrook, IL. This role involves hands-on work with innovative systems, supporting the team in testing and evaluating sprinkler and duct components. The position is fully onsite with a schedule of Monday through Friday, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, offering the opportunity to contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. If you're ready to bring your expertise to an exciting and dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you! + Builds and/or adapts unique setup and test equipment for complex tests using independent judgment. + Applies working knowledge of applicable test requirements and performs tests using general laboratory equipment. + Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. + Operates a computer to extract/input readily available information and to use available software. + Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor. + Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions. + Determines need for and seeks consultation from engineers or laboratory technicians. + Analyzes test results. + Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed. + Receives instructions from and reports data to supervisor and personnel in engineering and laboratory operations as needed. + Prepares data sheets and records observed or calculated test results. + Assembles test data for appropriate distribution. + Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. + Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. + Performs other duties as directed. + Higher Secondary Education plus one to two years related experience preferred. + Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers. + Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative. + Desire to work in a team-oriented environment. + Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must. + Ability to incorporate computer skills into day-to-day testing. What you will experience working at UL: + Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $40,000 and $56,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country.
