2nd Shift Supervisor

The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for meeting plant production goals by providing supervision, troubleshooting support, production scheduling, and the leading up to 50 skilled production employees on the second shift.  

  

What You Will Do: 

Supervises all second shift production floor employees. This includes personnel actions in the areas of hiring, termination, performance issues, reviews, training, coaching and work assignment.Works with Department Managers and first ‘shift-lead’ to coordinate all operations/manufacturing activities (manufacturing departments, shipping/receiving, warehouse), processes, and development/execution of a production plan. Follows through with Department Managers and Manufacturing Manager on capacity planning and scheduling.Troubleshoots problems, which may arise during the fabrication/assembly. As necessary, contact Engineering representatives immediately to resolve issues.Responsible for enforcing all Safety and Environmental policies and procedures on second shift including investigations, reporting and follow up of any accidents/injuries, work hazards, spills, and training.Works with shift employees using lean manufacturing techniques to streamline and improve all manufacturing processes.Work with shift employees to insure all ISO standards and quality processes are being utilized per our policy.Monitors work in process to ensure quality and productivity standards are met. Insures daily production plan is accomplished.Able to use SAP, MII, BOM, drawing system to support all shop operations. (i.e. issuing, receiving, checking short parts, scheduling SO, closing operations, retrieving drawings).Represents the Plant Manager to outside agencies during shift (police, fire, EPA, OSHA, media, etc).Others duties as assigned by manager (i.e. special projects).

What You Need to Succeed:  

Experience working in a union facility.Ability to schedule production for entire plant on the second shift.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to utilize PC and related software applications (including SAP & MII) to fulfill responsibilities.Self starter.Proven team player.RequiredHS diploma or equivalent.Minimum five years of related manufacturing or supervision experience.PreferredBS degree with emphasis in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.Solid supervision and demonstrated leadership abilities.Experience in lean manufacturing and six sigma techniquesExperience with welding, machining, heavy equipment and/or assembly processes.
