Job Summary
The Jockey Truck Driver is responsible for the organization of trailers on-site using the Yard Jockey truck. The position may require the use of a forklift for a percentage of the time.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Safely drives in the facility staging shipping loads in various weather conditionsCompletes daily equipment inspection sheetsLoads and unloads trucks as needed to assist with productionInspects equipment to ensure safe operating conditionsSecures load and/or inspects load to ensure it has been properly securedPerforms duties consistent with all applicable Company rulesConducts preventive maintenance to the truck and ensures it is cleanMaintains appropriate shipping documents as requiredMaintains radio contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions on trailers/loads to be movedVerifies shipping documents for accuracyCompletes paperwork as requiredMay operate a forklift to load/unload trailers as requiredFollows forklift rules and policies as described by Company policyCompletes training as required by managementParticipates in safety programs and meetingsPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications
Must be 18 years of ageMinimum 12th-grade basic education completedA minimum of 6 months of experience driving a commercial vehicle or yard jockey truck is requiredWorking knowledge of vehicle parts, and how to handle minor repairs to ensure equipment is in proper operating conditions Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process within 4 months of hireCDL license is not a requirement for this positionAbility to pass a driving test/skills evaluation in a yard jockey truckThe Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
