POSITION SUMMARY:
As Team Leader, you will be engaged in the custom manufacture of engineered storage tanks and tank accessories. You will direct the activities of the weld team, scheduling their work to answer CST’s daily and weekly output needs. While reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, you will interface with other functions such as quality control, engineering, scheduler, and safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintain a safe work environment that is compliant with all CST Safety Policies and OSHA standards.
· Lead a team of welders, mentor and motivate team members, ensuring individual and group productivity.
· Act as communications hub for the team, disseminating pertinent and timely information. Responsible for communication with other team leaders, including shift to shift communications.
· Schedule routine production functions, as well as special production needs and repairs.
· Work within the ManMan (ERP) system to monitor production flow, using data indicators to schedule workload, ensuring output meets CST’s targeted goals.
· Maintain and boost efficiency, initiate and implement continuous improvement projects, train team members, and work with all departments to implement new processes.
· Assist in performing hands-on production and assembly functions.
· Assume responsibility for quality output as a participant in administering the company’s Quality Management System.
· Implement Lean manufacturing practices and/or Six Sigma methods.
· Determine certification needs/requirements and coordinate testing.
· Complete and deliver performance reviews, commendations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
· Interview and select qualified welders.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Prefer 1-3 years’ experience as a hands-on floor leader.
· Prefer associates degree or technical course of study with high academic standing.
· Proven leadership, verbal communications, and interpersonal skills.
· Time management, scheduling, and prioritization skills.
· Strong commitment to safety.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining extremely high-quality standards.
· Ability to appropriately prioritize resources based upon needs, established protocols and demands.
· Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., ISO, CWB, API) a plus.
· Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, welding, and related management processes (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, CI) a plus.
· Prefer experience in advanced manufacturing skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.
· Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
· Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional, and decimal numbers.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Ability common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
· Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.
· Ability to make decisions and know when/where to make concessions.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
· Experience with utilizing and creating effective MS Excel spreadsheets; working capability with MSWord, Outlook, PowerPoint.
· Demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Walk, must be able to move about inside the manufacturing and office.
· Use hands/fingers to feel, must be able to operate computers, machinery, dimensional equipment.
· Sit and stand, must be able to work at a stationary desk that may require sitting or standing.
· Standing on concrete floor and uneven terrain will be required frequently.
· Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. (manufacturing environment).
· Ability to obtain Fork Truck License.
· Ability to travel to job sites on occasion.
