3 Phase Solar Electrician

Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the design, implementation, installation, maintenance, and repair of solar PV systems and energy storage solutions, including the integration of inverters, generators, battery systems and electrical wiring, while ensuring compliance with NRS, SANS and other regulations Document and report all work Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on solar and battery systems, diagnosing and resolving electrical issues using appropriate tools and testing equipment. Replace or repair faulty components, wiring, and fixtures in solar installations. Conduct inspections and sign-off on solar and electrical installations, ensuring they meet all technical and safety standards. Ensure quality control and adherence to SANS requirements across all installations and repairs Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations on all projects, maintaining a safe work environment Identify and mitigate risks to ensure the safety of personnel and protection of equipment Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues,and subcontractors, providing updates and addressing issues as they arise Keep up with advancements in solar PV technology and regulatory changes to ensure best practices are followed Install and configure data loggers, system comms and metering equipment to remotely monitor the solar plant's performance, enabling real-time adjustments to inverter settings and system parameters for optimal efficiency Assist in developing control solutions for three-phase contactors and change-over circuits for uninterrupted power supply Coordinate a project with minimal supervision Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate 3-phase qualified Electrician with a Trade Test Certificate Wireman’s license Solar PV qualification recommended Minimum of 3 years of post-trade experience in solar PV installations, with hands-on experience in battery storage systems Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle Fluent in both English and Afrikaans (written and spoken) Proven experience in preventative and corrective maintenance on solar plants, including large-scale commercial and residential systems. Computer literate and proficient in MSOffice Suite Required Skills:
Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including complex inverter and switchgear configurations Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients, team members, and stakeholders in a professional manner Physical Fitness: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including working at heights and lifting heavy equipment Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of setting up and commissioning solar inverters, control systems, supporting components, and switchgear Knowledge of Test Equipment: Expertise in using various electrical testing equipment, including multi-meters, megohmmeters, and insulation testers Compliance and Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of electrical codes, SANS standards, and safety protocols to ensure all work is compliant and safe
