This job is an On-site, Part-Time, Flexible-term for 1 year and could go longer.

Pay Range

This position is being offered as part-time, up to 20 hours a week, monthly pay posted will be adjusted accordingly.

$113,790 - $141,276 Annual (348.1)

Job Description

We have an opening for a Medical/Physical Standards Associate. This position is being offered as part-time, up to 20 hours a week, and monthly pay posted will be adjusted accordingly. You will provide support to the management and oversight of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Security Police Officer (SPO) Physical Fitness Program by administering exercise evaluations in accordance with industry standard practices, developing exercise prescriptions/programs, conducting physical fitness qualification standard tests, conducting strength and conditioning remedial training sessions, assisting in scheduling, and serving as a physical fitness expert for consultation and research in compliance with the Department of Energy (DOE) and LLNL Operating Policies and Procedures. This position is within the Security Organization.

You will

Plan, execute and implement PFD (Protective Force Division) Physical Fitness Program and provide physical fitness and wellness direction to Security Organization (SO) armed personnel to assure Physical Fitness Program administration and requirements are met. Collaborate with the Physical Protection Medical Director/Designated Physician, Health Services, (PFD) and SO management to define the Training Program requirements and ensure 10 CFR 1046 requirements are met.Apply specialized technical knowledge in health, fitness and nutrition standards to analyze and interpret individual’s unique needs, provides original solutions and specialized services to align with fitness requirements and medical assessments.Acquire, analyze and interpret 10 CFR 1046, medical evaluations/directives, individual health and fitness assessments, and training and operational requirements to ensure multiple required assessments, and physical fitness standards are met (e.g., semi-annual health assessments of SPOs, submaximal evaluations of SPOs, return-to-work cases). Report results to PFD and SO management and Health Services; identify existing health and safety problems within the Program, DOE requirements and individual’s physical capacity; utilizes data results to identify areas to prevent injury and plans projects to solve problems.Accurately enter fitness-related data into databases to include the employee’s electronic physical fitness record.Conduct ergonomic related evaluations for SO field operations and physical readiness evaluations for proper movement and positioning during work and training activities. Develop and deliver presentations for SPO, Union and PFD leadership and management as part of injury prevention and fitness assessments.Design, author and review program documents, reports, policies and procedures to perform health and fitness assessment screening, fitness testing and assessments, and nutrition and physical fitness training plans. Develop, maintain and analyze data to track upcoming requirements, history and existing issues to ensure compliance and individual requirements are addressed.Conduct quality assurance of physical fitness compliance records. Compile and report statistics and metrics on data collected for input to Health Services and to SO management and the Livermore Field Office for the Performance Evaluation Management Plan. Qualifications Ability to secure and maintain a United States (U.S.) DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in exercise science/kinesiology, physical fitness/education or equivalent combination of education and extensive related experience.Current CPR/AED certification (American Heart Association or equivalent) and American Red Cross Adult First Aid certification.Current National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.Advanced knowledge and skills of physical fitness, wellness procedures, standards, and techniques, technologies, processes, Environmental Safety and Health and ergonomicsAdvanced verbal and written communication, presentation, and feedback skills.Experience working independently and in a team environment across multiple organizations, managing complex regulatory requirements, and meeting schedules.Effective organizational skills with attention to detail necessary to handle multiple complex tasks with conflicting priorities, tight and changing deadlines, and frequent interruptions while providing high-level customer service and follow-through.Analytical, decision-making skills and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret and recommend actions/solutions to complex and/or sensitive medical issues.Advanced knowledge of personal computer and associated software including Microsoft Office applications.Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications we desire

Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or another health-related field.DOE, Department of Defense, law enforcement, fire department, or other government agency physical fitness program experience. Additional Information

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.  If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
