Job Title: 3D Scanning Engineer II Pay Grade: T2 Job Description: Key Responsibilities: + Developing data processing standards (techniques, strategies, and tools) for 3D data + Collecting 3D scan data on-site + Crafting and building fixtures required for individual scanning + Submitting requests for needed tools/equipment + Crafting as-built models from scan data (surface mesh/point cloud) + Performing quality dimensional analysis on scan data + Preparing and presenting inspection reports to customers + Occasionally leading meetings/discussions when required + Training and mentoring backup team members + Conducting and participating in technical reviews with potential suppliers, design engineers, and the drafting team + Supervising eWorks requests and logging database entries via Microsoft Access + Providing status reports with estimated completion dates of requested inspection items + Providing reports as needed for program status and estimates + Observing applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures Key Performance Measures: + Achieves quality standards and requirements. + Meets or exceeds productivity requirements on-time. + Adaptable and responsive to business changes and demands. + Puts safety first and creates a culture of safety. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience + Proficient in written and spoken business communication skills Preferred: + BS degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience. Experience: + 3+ years of experience in the engineering field in a similar position/group + Proven experience with using, manipulating, and applying CAD knowledge to communicate results from quality analysis scans + Sound Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing interpretation and application understanding + Strong mechanical and organizational problem-solving skills + 3D Scanning knowledge or experience with surface mesh data and point clouds + Experience with inspection techniques + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings + Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship Preferred: + 3D Scanning experience and analyzing 3D datasets + Experience with Gom/Novacam/Polyworks/Geomagic/Zeiss Inspect Software + Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation + Understanding of machine and manufacturing processes Scope Factors Highly proficient professional role – self-starter needing limited supervision. Frequently interacts with direct team members, cross functional peers, direct and upper management chain. Interacts with external customers and suppliers ~25% of the time or more. Have influence and mentorship over peers. Builds knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers. Forecasts preventative maintenance repairs and associated costs. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting/developing methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Work will typically impact direct peers, supervisors, cross functional partners and projects they may lead.
