Position Summary: Participates in the development and implementation of clients' behavioral programs by providing care and close supervision of facility clients and documenting behavior, by developing positive relationships with clients and co-workers and following facility policies and procedures, by implementing treatment plans and providing crisis intervention as necessary. Contributes to the effective implementation of individual treatment plans of clients through alert observation, and "line of sight" supervision at all times. Maintains safety and security of the facility through close observation and monitoring of the clients, maintaining optimal physical proximity, remaining alert at all times, and using forethought to anticipate potentially unsafe situations. Stimulates clients' interest and cooperation in various individual and group activities and programs through positive interaction, instruction, supervision, feedback and encouragement. Prepares for and facilitates psychoeducational groups and documents resident progress as directed. Demonstrates an understanding of company policies and procedures. Demonstrates an understanding of program mission and philosophy. Understands and assists with state licensing regulations, CARF standards, HIPAA policy, state contract, ordinances, laws, or other regulations required of them in their position and acts consistently in obedience to same. Demonstrates a proficiency in implementation of the program manual. Supervises and assists in implementation of the behavioral management program so that physical violence / sexual behavior is minimized and handled per policy. Assists in the proper implementation of protective hold techniques and procedures. Mentors and trains new staff. Actively participates in treatment team meetings and shift meetings. Monitors and suggests training needs for Mental Health Assistants. Direct observation and counseling with residents. Supervises/ conducts resident/student search(s) as required. Regularly monitors safety and cleanliness of facility and grounds; works with the Mental Health Assistants to ensure security and safety issues are immediately reported. Practices confidentiality with regard to residents and staff. Maintains current and complete personnel file including updated training. Introduces and helps to develop and implement creative and innovative ideas for the program. Routinely reviews documentation from previous shift(s) before the beginning of each shift. Completes miscellaneous paperwork assignments as required. Conducts other duties as assigned by Shift Manager and or other administrative persons. Response to crisis in a timely manner, ensuring proper notification and documentation is completed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or residents. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Ability to manage crisis situations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff.
