4-H Program Manager/Camp Administrator - Hamden, NY
The 4-H Program Manager serves as a member of the 4-H Youth Development Team to assist with delivery, evaluation, planning, and management of the 4-H Youth Development programs. The position will interact with the public through group delivery of programs and assists the co-workers in activities to foster 4-H youth development throughout Delaware County, utilizing best practices and the integration of new tools and materials.
The position will provide educational programs in assigned subject matter areas and combine innovative and traditional approaches to provide programming for youth ages 5-18 in Delaware County. Key program areas may include, but is not limited to: leadership; civic engagement; life skills, STEM, and other 4H youth development areas.
The Program Manager will also be is responsible for day-to-day oversight of 4-H Camp Shankitunk providing administrative direction, management and coordination including (but not limited to): serving as point of contact for campers, parents and staff; budget preparation and monitoring; managing the human resource and personnel functions of the camp; guiding marketing and mass media efforts; fund development and grant writing, preparing camp safety plan and other licensure documents; developing and supporting educational program efforts. The position is responsible for providing administrative supervision of the camp director; camp office staff and camp program delivery staff including recruitment and oversight. This position will help develop camp policies and procedures, marketing and camp enrollment in overnight camp and day camp programs.
The Program Manager will, in conjunction with other 4-H staff, identify ongoing needs for the 4-H Youth Development program and 4-H Camp Shankitunk through collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continued success of the program. They will be supervised by the 4-H Team Leader with administrative oversight from the Executive Director. This position will also receive program consultation for camp management and program development from the State 4-H Camp Specialist.

    

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in youth development, recreation, environmental education, natural resources or other related degree plus relevant experience.Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Ability to manage off season programming for the facility and experience with outdoor educational programs.Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment, climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.Familiarity with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.Ability to be outdoors and lead/participate in physical activities.Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs.Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.Ability to identify and utilize program resources from the organization and the community.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations.Knowledge of NYS Health Department regulations and American Camp Association standards.Excellent understanding of Environmental/Conservation/Outdoor Recreation Education.Current certification in First Aid / CPR / AED or EMT, preferred.

Position Details: This is a full-time (40 hrs./week) benefits eligible, exempt position. Annual compensation paid between $60,405 - $62,275, with generous paid time off provided.
