4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Worker

The 4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance performs trades duties approaching the journeyman level in a variety of trades areas such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding. Performs maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment and performs mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems such as heating, air handling units. Operates, repairs and carries out preventative maintenance on the Air Handling Units, Mixing Boxes, VAVs, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. May be required to process individual departmental purchase requests. Persons in this role must be prepared to act in various capacities regarding supporting maintenance in general terms. This position may require inter-site work assignments, and working in a support role to trades personnel.

Qualifications:
Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC. Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
