508 Compliance Tester

Purpose of Position: The 508 Accessibility Analysts will provide support to the VA Office of Information Technology, Product Development by conducting Department-wide validation and conformance testing of VA ICT products and systems to ensure conformance with the Section 508 Standards. Blind and Visually Impaired Individuals are encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions:
+ Conduct all initial Section 508 assessment and assigning validation statuses to systems, vendor products, and any other item submitted for 508 analyses. using Section 508 Program Office’s standardized checklist and best practices, identify and document areas of nonconformance, identify problems encountered
+ Document the test validation information in the Detail Validation Test Report.
+ Create a Section 508 Assessment Status Document, using provided template, that will record the conformance of the ICT under assessment to Section 508 accessibility requirements and WCAG 2.0AA.
+ Track deficient 508 issues, generate 508 reports to Project Managers, produce 508 status reports for management.
+ Position is a team position working with other Auditor/Testers on each information communications and technology (ICT) audit and test.
+ Core work hours are 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (EST) Monday to Friday. Remaining daily hours will be worked before or after the core hours .

+ Position may require individual to work beyond the normal workday to support time sensitive projects upon customer approval.
+ Available 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (EST) Monday to Friday which are the client core hours .
Required Experience:
Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for this position;
+ 2+ years of experience with Section 508 standards, WCAG and testing of ICT of various forms for Conformance Compliance and Risk Reporting
+ Experience in using a wide variety of commercially procured and free testing tools, including JAWS, NVDA, Dragon or Adobe to test the accessibility of websites, software and documents
+ Knowledge of standards and accessibility tools
+ Knowledge of representing programmatic structure in Microsoft Office Suite
+ Ability to follow a repeatable method of testing to produce audit results
+ Ability to work onsite
+ Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably computer science, web development/design, or knowledge acquired through extensive work-related experience.
+ Must have proficient knowledge and understanding of the requirements of Rehabilitation Act Section 508 and how they apply to federal agency business operations and processes.
+ Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to solve customer problems in a timely manner.
+ Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
+ Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
+ Ability to learn very quickly and share knowledge with other team members.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, and very detail oriented.
+ Ability to obtain a Public Trust (6c) clearance required
