Operates and maintains boilers and all associated equipment. Maintains logbooks for MSDS and manufacturers flame spread ratings on materials within the hospital. Repairs and maintains the Fire Detection and Suppression Systems, oversees the Hospital Signage program, and is responsible for Vehicle Maintenance Program. Required ExperienceEducation:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Four years of training or experience in building and equipment maintenance or successful completion of an apprenticeship program.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
· In this position, one will be required to be an OSHA certified forklift operator. On site and hands on training will be provided by department leader to meet this requirement.
Experience:
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints specifications and technical information.
· Knowledge of NFPA codes and the Joint Commission fire safety requirements
· Knowledge of ADA and NFPA signage requirements
· Ability to follow oral and written instruction and keep accurate documentation and records.
· Knowledge of steam boilers and standard boiler procedures.
· Ability to prioritize work.
· Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).
· Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical skills.
· Ability to maintain uniformity of signage program.
