In this position... 
Design, develop and release systems, subsystems, and components which meet program requirements and timing in accordance with Ford GPDS milestones. 

 

What you'll do...
Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets, drawings, and specifications.
Plan, coordinate, execute and analyze verification testing to established targets.
Lead / Support resolution of all design, manufacturing, quality, and launch issues.
Direct and guide suppliers to ensure program objectives are met through effective CPMT meetings. 
Analyze customer feedback on system or component performance and identify improvements (design and process) and implement prevent reoccurrence.
Lead / Support TVM cost reduction activities. 



You'll have... 
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field
0-6+ months of powertrain design & release experience or equivalent coursework or internship experience.
0-6+ months of experience with Utilization of Six Sigma tools & problem-solving tools. (8D’s, 3 legged 5 Why’s, etc.) or equivalent coursework or internship experience.



Even better, you may have...
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field
2+ years of powertrain design & release experience
2+ years of experience with Utilization of Six Sigma tools & problem-solving tools. (8D’s, 3 legged 5 Why’s, etc.)
Proven experience with delivery of balanced Quality, Cost, Weight and Functional attributes for components / sub-systems. 
Understand principles of diesel combustion, complex castings, valvetrain, camdrive, mechanical-hydraulic interaction, slider-crank mechanisms. 
Prior experience executing effective quality documentation (i.e. FMEA’s, Control Plans, SCCAF’s, etc.)
Knowledge of GD&T / dimensional control, PPAP and APQP principals. 
Experience in using/applying CAE and optimization methods in design & development of internal combustion engine components and subsystems.
Six Sigma Green Belt trained or preferably Six Sigma Green / Black Belt certified.
Experience working with engineering team in a global setting/regions.
Knowledge of functions and components of an internal combustion engine
Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills 
Ability to navigate Ford internal systems: WERS (change management), Global Integrator (program health / delivery), Teamcenter (CAD), FEDE (Requirements, design rules, DV & quality documents), etc. 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
