SALARY RANGE $1,298.46 - $2,032.96 Biweekly ( $33,759.96 - $52,856.96 Annually). Salary is negotiable based on experience. This is a high-level position providing technical, financial and auditing assistance to the Agency for Health Care Administration's (AHCA) administrators and program staff in the planning, development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs as they relate to fiscal requirements of federal, state and local governments. The responsibilities of this position are of a broad scope requiring extensive knowledge of both state and federal accounting systems as well as being knowledgeable of all laws, rules and regulations governing federal grants and reporting requirements. This professional accounting position is responsible for the maintenance and collection of accounts receivable and past due collections. This position is also responsible for daily computer posting for all accounts. The incumbent in this position must possess professional accounting skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a thorough knowledge of the Florida statutes and administrative codes that establish the parameters in which the incumbent must perform. A general understanding of accounting principles and personal computer operation is essential. The duties and responsibilities of this Accountant III position include, but are not limited to, the following. Initiate collection efforts, including letters to providers, receipt and identification of payments, interception of provider payments from the fiscal agent, and documentation and referral of cases to the legal office for action for accounts receivable cases and past due collections. Monitor accounts receivable cases and past due collection referrals as well as review repayment schedules to ensure providers and facilities remain in compliance. Assist facilities, Agency staff, and auditors with requests relating to Medicaid accounts receivable and past due invoices. Research checks, set up new cases, prepare deposits, and make non-deposits in the required accounting system. Maintain accurate computerized ledgers reflecting account activity or accounts receivable and maintain a well-documented, orderly, and historical filing system. Process and monitor all administrative final orders for past due collections. Communicate with Agency staff and facility representatives in the development, preparation, and negotiation of payment plans/settlement agreements to resolve outstanding debts due to the Agency. Monitor, record, and report on all revenue types, including communication with provider representatives, Agency and other state departmental staff for accounts receivable cases and past due collection referrals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS Three years of professional or non-professional accounting experience.
