As a Licensed Practical Nurse you will:

Provides direct professional patient care to assigned patients through the utilization of clinical nursing skills and judgment applicable to the special needs of the adult patient population. Administer all types of medications and performs medical treatment as prescribed by a physician or as indicated by patient condition. Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal hygiene, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and incontinency care (as needed). Makes frequent patient rounds, providing comfort measures as necessary, and observes and reports condition changes to the registered nurse. Initiates appropriate emergency measures as necessary.

Requirements:

Work requires possession of a current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure in position. Work requires three to six months' orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with policies, nursing procedures, and techniques within assigned patient care area and meet the core competencies required for working with adult patients.  Position requires analytical ability and sound nursing knowledge for effective collection of patient data, treatment planning, implementation of patient care, and documentation of pertinent information regarding patient's condition.  Work requires interpersonal skills to interact effectively with psychiatrically ill adult patients in order to gain their cooperation, allay apprehensions and provide effective health teaching to patients and family members (51-80% of work time).
