GENERAL SUMMARY: The Physician Assistant functions as an independent healthcare provider, under the supervision of a physician, who, work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team. Responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with acute or chronic medical conditions, in a fast-paced urgent care setting. Demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses or acute injuries commonly encountered in both the pediatric and adult patient population. Is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. The Physician Assistant demonstrates an advanced level of medical clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses and institutes appropriate treatment programs. Performs functions independently. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved in a safe and efficient manner. Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree. Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. One year of full-time experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to prioritize tasks. Must be able to work independently with all unknown conditions in a fast-paced environment.
