Shift Supervisor, Per Diem (Olympic Suicide Prevention Center) 

This position is remote. The pay for this position is $28.00 per hour with a $5.00 overnight differential.

Schedule is 0 weekly scheduled shifts, with the expectation to pick up a minimum of 8 hours monthly based on program needs. Availability preferred for weekends, nights and overnights.

Summary

Responsible for oversight and support of crisis counselors and volunteers for the Suicide Prevention Center’s Crisis Line to ensure compliance with program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines.

 

Primary Duties

Provides general supervision on crisis calls providing support as needed; conducts safety assessments of calls and assists crisis counselors and volunteers in determining same. Monitors crisis calls; provides consultation to volunteers and crisis counselors when needed and ensures compliance with policies; initiates debriefing sessions with volunteers and crisis counselors after they have taken a call. Manages and supports call flow on the Crisis Line. Listens and monitors volunteer and crisis counselors’ calls. Provides input and feedback for performance evaluations of volunteers. Researches and locates appropriate resources for volunteers and crisis counselors while they are on a call. With support from the On-Call Manager, may make the determination of mandated reports and sending emergency intervention to callers. Initiates debriefing sessions with volunteers and crisis counselors after they have taken a call. Takes crisis calls if working overnight shifts, during high volume times or as needed to meet program needs. Maintains caller contact data; completes mandated reports and other relevant forms. Identifies volunteer and crisis counselor training needs and provides individual support. Attends routinely scheduled meetings as requested or required for the Suicide Prevention Center and/or Didi Hirsch. Participates in SPC training activities. Ensures the volunteers and crisis counselors follow program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines.

 

Position Requirements

Have availability and flexibility to work the overnight, evening and weekend shifts. Support the values and mission of Didi Hirsch as related to employment. Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH policies and documentation guidelines, and other state, federal regulations relating to emergency mental health services. Demonstrate current knowledge of all job specific skills including volunteer supervision, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, telephone crisis line procedures, multicultural and socio-economic issues. Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing. Have basic supervisory skills sufficient to manage a staff of volunteers and crisis counselors, enforcing policies and procedures while maintaining a supportive environment. Have strong interpersonal skills, interact well with others, and effectively communicate to others when conflicts occur. Efficiently use a computer to include Microsoft Office Suite and crisis line software. Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies. Ability to adapt and be flexible to changes in protocol and program needs. Must be 18 years or older. Current California driver’s license, car insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
