Bowhead is seeking a Lead Audio-Visual Technician, to be responsible for the installation of equipment, IAW an approved Engineering Design Plan, and system testing upon completion at various government facilities for our Army customer.
The Lead A/V Technician will communicate with the Installation Field Engineer, relaying vital information about the install to them including, but not limited to change request from the client, required deviations from the install plan, delays, equipment issues, etc. You may be tasked with providing training to more junior installation team members. Additionally, the Lead may be tasked to develop site surveys, utility plans, perform system/facilities evaluations, in addition to overseeing the installation of associated equipment.
• Implement facility expansion, layout, installation of various systems, and quality controls.
• Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
• Provide as-built design documents to the Installation Field Engineer.
• Provide direct leadership in overseeing and accomplishing installation of required equipment, cables, computer systems and associated facilities activities.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
• Install indoor fiber optic cable in large military structures.
• Install computer systems and equipment.
• Run, terminate, and test low voltage copper cable.
• Ensure cables are organized, dressed and labeled to industry standards
• Perform drywall, wood, and concrete masonry firewall penetrations
• Test and troubleshoot a variety of cable types
• Maintain cleanliness and safety on job site
• Determine solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the Ethernet or fiber optic systems from performing optimally
• Provide support and direction to technician helpers
• Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred or additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Must be able to travel 50-75 percent of the time. Telecommute during none travel times
• At least 3 years of experience as an Audio-Visual Installation technician or in a similar role.
• Experience with VISIO and MS Office preferred.
• Knowledge of the equipment installation processes and principles.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Team management skills.
• Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Currently there is no security clearance requirement. The successful candidate must successfully pass a T1 investigation. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
Physical Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
