The role you’ll contribute:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Sanitation and Utility Specialist is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the Food Production Center, which includes but is not limited to the production area, bakery, coolers, freezers, stockrooms/closets, dish room, warehouse, exterior of the building/loading dock, and trash removal. Responsible for cleanliness of the production and dish machine/dish room equipment, floors, floor drains, walls, baseboards, storage racks, trash cans, etc. Adheres to FDA Food Code standards for cleaning and sanitation.

Cleaning and Sanitation - Understands and complies with HACCP, FDA Food Code, and in-house safety and sanitation guidelines. Maintains area according to posted cleaning schedules and signs off with Supervisor when completed. Keeps equipment and all work areas, including the exterior of the building, organized, clean and tidy.Shows attention to detail and keeps area free of clutter.Ensures timely trash/recycling removal and appropriate sorting into compactors.Unloads, checks in, and stores food production stock orders, as assigned.Responsible for washing and sanitizing pots, pans, utensils, mixing bowls, mixing paddles/whips, carts/racks, baking molds, floor mats, and delivering the clean, dry items to the appropriate locations or storage areas.Safely operates, cleans and sanitizes the dish machine, three-compartment sink, trash disposal, and all other assigned equipment.

Productivity - Meets productivity guidelines set by department supervisor. Manages a high volume of work and to meet deadlines. Ensures that corrective action is taken when any sanitation or safety standard is not being met and follows up to ensure completion.Cross-trains in multiple areas of sanitation throughout the Food Production Center, and completes tasks according to department needs.Learns new processes quickly.Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure a smooth operation of the department.

· Communication - Communicates status of work progress to supervisor; alerts supervisor when equipment, process, or productivity issues arise. Communicates need for specific tools or supplies in a timely manner to avoid delays in productivity. Communicates with coworkers to build teamwork and maintain a smooth operation. Observes and listens well. Displays a positive attitude and courteous disposition. Makes decisions and communicates them appropriately.

· Compliance - Ensures compliance in that work area is clean, orderly, neat, and well organized. Wears hairnet/beard cover in designated areas of the facility and maintains hand hygiene standards. Attends mandatory education and in-services and team meetings; follows AH and NS Policies & Procedures, and SOPs; works toward department goals and objectives. Wears approved uniform and maintains a professional appearance, including AH ID badge. Utilizes knowledge of Nutritional Services compliance information for regulatory agencies. Recycles appropriately.

· Equipment – Appropriately uses, sets up, cleans, and breaks down all commercial equipment. Handles equipment safely and carefully to minimize damage. Maintains, cleans, and uses equipment per specifications to promote longevity and function. Uses an industrial dish machine, three-compartment sink, industrial rack washer, industrial floor cleaner/buffer, pressure washer, cleaning/sanitizing chemicals, etc., depending on facility needs.

· Chemical Use - Properly uses chemicals, equipment and cleaning supplies. Reads and follows instructions, and maintains knowledge of chemicals as contained in the SDS manual. Practices cost conscious behaviors. Restocks chemicals and tools, as needed throughout shift.

Safety - Follows HACCP guidelines of cleaning and sanitation for food safety.Uses “Wet Floor” signs and other life safety equipment appropriately.Monitors and records equipment (dish machine, 3-compartment sink) temperatures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with HACCP plan.Monitors food temperatures as assigned. Completes all logs and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.Practices concern for people’s safety and uses good judgment of when to clean areas, mop floors, uses wet floor signs, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· 2 years’ experience in sanitation and/or food service

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Experience in high volume food service facility

· 5 years’ experience in sanitation and/or food service
