Academic Administrative Assistant, Environmental Studies and Sciences and Geosciences
The Environmental Studies and Sciences and Geosciences Departments welcome applications for an Administrative Assistant to start immediately. Duties will include: • Assist the academic Department Chairs in the effective operation of the department/program. • Provide administrative support to faculty in their instructional, committee and research activities. • Support students with their educational goals. This is a 10-month position typically running from the end of August to the end of June each year. The ESS/Geo Academic Administrative Assistant is a focal point of the department offices and provides welcoming and inclusive front-line reception and service assistance to faculty, students, community, and parents. Through their work, the incumbent promotes Skidmore and its academic departments and programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + budget maintenance, + course scheduling, + events coordination, + course evaluations processing, + department reception and general support, + liaison to administrative offices such as Office Services, Purchasing, Registrar’s Office, Facilities, Financial Services, IT etc.; + student worker supervision, + report preparation, + records management, + supplies and equipment ordering, + faculty search support, and + equipment, technology (website development and maintenance, graphics, etc.), and facilities maintenance. Qualifications: These duties involve frequent multi-tasking--including the ability to think independently and quickly while making sound judgment--and require: + meticulous organizational skills, + extensive communication and relations building skills, + decision making and problem solving skills, + the ability to handle confidential information, + knowledge of the institution, + technical knowledge of Microsoft office products and other aspects of instructional technology, + financial management and accounting skills, and + basic supervisory skills.
