No Duties and Responsibilities Provides academic advising to approximately 200 to 250 Quinlan undergraduate students. Assists with academic discernment, choice of major and minor, course selection to meet academic goals, and how to use the full range of available university and school resources for needed personal and professional support.

Responsibilities include:
a) Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Loyola University Chicago and Quinlan School of Business curriculum requirements, including knowledge of the university core, the undergraduate business core, and all Quinlan majors or minors.
b) Advise assigned Quinlan undergraduates. If these undergraduates represent a specialized population (e.g., business honors students, student athletes, transfer students from Arrupe College) possess thorough knowledge of the specific academic conditions and requirements that pertain to that population. Keep highly detailed, accurate advising records using appropriate software.
c) Contribute to a friendly, welcoming, inclusive, and approachable environment in the advising office.
d) Assist with advising for new students and participate in orientation programming as requested by the Director of Advising.
e) Complete regular audits to ensure that students are on track for graduation and resolve issues as needed.
f) Maintain awareness of all university- and school-based resources available to Quinlan undergraduates (including but not limited to career development, tutoring and supplemental instruction, mental health support, and financial assistance) and provide information to students on how to access those resources.
g) Play an active role in promoting undergraduate student success and retention, in partnership with Quinlan’s undergraduate team.
h) Appropriately apply FERPA regulations in discussions of student matters with families, faculty, and other parties.
i) Support students in their goal of meeting conditions of academic performance when on academic probation.
j) Represent Quinlan in undergraduate admissions processes, providing information to prospective students and families and attending recruiting events as requested (e.g., fall and spring open house and yield weekends).
k) Assist with commencement and other academic ceremonies attended by Quinlan undergraduates.
l) Complete other duties as assigned Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field required and one to two years of related experience. Qualifications At least 1 to 2 years of experience with academic advising or guidance; experience at the four-year college level is preferred but not required.

Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree in education, psychology, or another relevant discipline is preferred.

Thorough knowledge of (or the ability to develop thorough knowledge of) Quinlan School of Business and Loyola University Chicago academic policies and procedures.

Ability to work effectively with undergraduate students, families and guardians, and colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds, demonstrating Jesuit values of inclusion and care for others.

Highly developed communication skills.

Ability to readily provide empathic, consistent, accurate, developmental, student-focused and honest advising.

Excellent attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to work constructively in teams andindependently.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, changing environment where responsibilities and duties may frequently change. Certificates/Credentials/Licenses N/A Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle, Navigate, PowerBI, document imaging software, and transfer articulation resources is preferred.
